In April of 2002 we started a nonprofit corporation in Poland named, “Fundacja Opoka.” “Solid Rock” is a translation of the very nice sounding old Polish word “Opoka.” (O-po-ka; o’s long and “a” as “father”) This is the word chosen in the old Polish Bible to translate those places that God is called “the Rock.” It provides a mental picture of God as the firm and stable foundation for life, and therefore, is a great name through which we can proclaim the gospel of Christ here in Poland. We also use this name in translation (Solid Rock) for our web and e-mail addresses.
